柳公權(778年—865年),字誠懸,京兆府華原縣(今陝西省銅川市耀州區)人,唐朝大書法家。他擔任侍書(朝廷書法教師)數十年,因書見重,歷仕數朝,位至太子少傅,封河東郡公,追贈太子太師。他工於書法,尤其精通碑版楷書,開創“柳體”這一中國書法發展史上最後的楷書書體,成為唐朝楷書藝術最後的完善者。

Liu Gongquan (778–865), courtesy name Chengxuan, was from Huayuan County, Jingzhao Prefecture (present-day Yaozhou District, Tongchuan City, Shaanxi Province). He was a great calligrapher of the Tang dynasty. Serving as an imperial calligraphy teacher (Shishu) for decades, he was highly esteemed for his writing and served through multiple reigns, attaining the rank of Junior Tutor to the Crown Prince and being titled Duke of Hedong Commandery. He was posthumously honored as Senior Tutor to the Crown Prince. Liu excelled in calligraphy, particularly in stele-style regular script, founding the "Liu Style," the last major regular script style in Chinese calligraphy history, and became the final master perfecting Tang dynasty regular script art.
